An imagined natural history collection from a world that evolved slightly differently from our own.

 

The Moormoth Archive is an ongoing collection of hand-made specimens inspired by natural history, botanical forms, folklore and the traditions of collecting and preservation.

 

Each specimen begins with an imagined fragment of the natural world — a creature, plant or curious object that might once have been found, catalogued and carefully preserved.

Created from textiles, metal, paper, found materials and hand-made elements, the specimens are presented as though they belong to a genuine historical collection. Each is given its own name, classification and archival record, creating a story around something that never actually existed.

 

I am interested in the space between fact and fiction: in the way museums, collections and scientific records give objects authority and meaning, and in the stories we create around the things we choose to keep.

 

Some specimens are delicate and intricate; others are strange, imperfect or quietly mysterious. Together they form fragments of a natural history that exists only within the world of Moormoth.

 

The Archive is always growing. There are still specimens to discover.
